Piping Engineer

Overview
Avantis Group is recruiting a Piping Engineer to join our Engineering team based in the UAE. The role is full-time and will support upstream and downstream oil & gas projects, delivering detailed piping design, analysis and documentation for engineering and construction phases. The successful candidate will work within multidisciplinary teams to ensure technical compliance, constructability and safe delivery of piping systems across varied project scopes.
Key Responsibilities
Piping layout development – prepare general arrangement drawings (GADs), isometrics and 3D models to meet project requirements and client specifications.
Hydraulic calculations – perform pressure drop, flow analysis and pump head calculations to support system sizing and equipment selection.
Pipe stress analysis – carry out stress analysis using Caesar II, AutoPIPE or equivalent tools and interpret results to ensure compliance with design limits.
Pipe support design & coordination – develop support arrangements, define support loads and coordinate with structural and mechanical disciplines for load acceptance.
3D modelling – develop and review models using PDMS, E3D, SP3D, Plant 3D or similar, and participate in clash detection and resolution activities.
Material Take-Off (MTO) – prepare and review MTOs, ensuring accuracy for procurement and costing activities.
Bidding and technical support – provide technical input during tender and proposal stages, prepare scope clarifications and estimate support documentation.
Codes & standards compliance – ensure designs comply with ASME B31.3 / B31.1, API, ISO and client specifications; apply class rules (DNV, ABS, LR) where applicable.
Multidisciplinary coordination – attend and contribute to model and design reviews, coordinate with piping, mechanical, civil, electrical and instrumentation teams.
HAZOP & technical discussions – support HAZOP sessions and technical reviews, addressing piping-related items and mitigation measures.
Candidate Requirements
Experience – minimum 4+ years of experience in oil & gas piping engineering or related sectors.
Education – Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
Technical knowledge – strong understanding of piping codes, standards and industry best practices.
Analysis skills – proven experience in hydraulic and stress analysis.
3D modelling – hands-on experience with PDMS, E3D, SP3D, Plant 3D or equivalent and familiarity with clash coordination processes.
MTO & bidding – experience preparing MTOs and supporting tender/bid activities.
BIM knowledge – understanding of BIM processes and deliverables is preferable.
Communication – good verbal and written communication skills with the ability to coordinate across disciplines and with clients.
Tool proficiency – experience with Caesar II, AutoPIPE or similar stress analysis software and common engineering calculation tools.
Professional conduct – able to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating attention to detail and commitment to safety and quality.
